The Southern Regional Centre of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine was established in compliance with the Presidential Decree No. 635/2010 from May 21, 2010 at the premises of the National University "Odessa Law Academy" in furtherance of general development of legal science, enhancement of scientific research effectiveness in the field of law, coordination of the research institutions and universities in the context of academic investigation of legal issues, which are significant for the southern region of Ukraine.
The activity of the Southern Regional Centre as the subdivision of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine is conducted within the southern region of Ukraine, which includes Kirovograd, Nikolayev, Odessa and Kherson regions.

The Southern Regional Centre of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine has been researching the topic no. 86/16 "Contemporary directions of the development of legal science for further growth of Ukrainian regions", approved by the Praesidium of the National Academy of Legal Sciences on October 18, 2013 (the only Centre of NALSU, which has an approved topic) since 2013.
The Southern Regional Centre has published professional academic periodical (website: prc.com.ua) since 2014 (the only Centre of the NALSU, which publishes scientific reviews).
In General, the Centre provides its activity in following directions:
1.development of theoretical legal science;
2.participation in legal drafting (rule-making);
3.perfection of the teaching process at higher education institutions of the South of Ukraine;
4.co-operation, including expert assessment and the provision of scientific and practical guidance; co-operation with state and local government bodies, judicial and law enforcement authorities, etc. The Southern Regional Centre of the National Academy of Legal Sciences fulfils the orders of these bodies, develops the framework of State scientific policy, as well as examines the drafts of governmental decisions and programmes;
5.Members of the centre are involved in Constitutional Commission, scientific and advisory boards of the Supreme Commercial Court of Ukraine, Higher Specialized Court of Ukraine for civil and criminal cases, the Supreme Administrative Court, where they take direct part in the formation of amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, consider draft resolutions of judicial bodies, as well as provide advice on certain categories of cases.
In general, the scientific potential of the South Regional Centre is aimed to solve primary issues of Ukraine and its southern region. Members of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine strengthen and develop the independence of our state; they advance Ukrainian legal science, law enforcement, rule-making and education systems.
