The Department of Criminal Law and Criminology is a part of the Ivano-Frankivsk Educational and Scientific Legal Institute of the National University "Odessa Law Academy" and trains full-time and part-time specialists.
The main task of the department is the implementation of educational activities aimed at training students of three levels of higher education, the formation of a creative personality and professionalism in scientific work. The work of the department is aimed at improving the educational process and improving the quality of personnel training.
The department was created in June 2016 on the basis of the order of the National University "Odessa Law Academy" Rector.
The Department of Criminal Law and Criminology is one of the leading departments that provides the teaching of legal disciplines of the criminal law cycle, the creation of the necessary educational and methodological base, conducting scientific research on the problems of criminal law and criminology, penal law, transnational crime and legal support of professional activity .
Description of the main directions and spheres of activity
Currently, the department employs 7 teachers - 5 full-time employees (4 with the scientific degree of candidate of legal sciences, academic title of associate professor and 1 - senior lecturer), 2 part-time employees (1 doctor of legal sciences, professor and 1 candidate of legal sciences, associate professor) , as well as senior laboratory assistants of the department/.
Starting from September 2016, the teachers of the department participate in the annual scientific and practical seminar "Actual problems of Criminal Law and Criminology".
Since 2016, the teaching staff of the department has prepared 2 monographs, 3 textbooks and more than 25 educational and scientific guides, educational and practical comments.
Especially it should be mentioned of such monographs as "Modern Criminal Process of European Countries" (co-authored by Yurchyshyn V.D, 2018) and "Criminal Process of European States (Moscow: Prospekt, 2018)" (co-authored by Yurchyshyn V.D, 2018).
Among the textbooks, it is worth noting: "Crimes against the person: concepts, types and criminal law characteristics" (authored by Hablei N.H, Kuchera A.V, 2021), "Fundamentals of the criminal process of the Federal Republic of Germany" (authored by Felyk V.I , Savchenko V.A, Yurchyshyn V.D , 2017), "Forensic examinations" (by Kanyuk I.M , Korolyshyn I.M, Yurchyshyn V.D, 2017).
The teachers of the department took an active part in the creation of teaching aids: "Criminal Law of Ukraine. Special Part" (authored by Kuchera A.V, Derdiuk B.M, Smushak O.M, 2020), "Criminal Executive Law" (authored by Yurchyshyn V.D, Derdiuk B.M, Smushak O.M, 2020), "Qualification of Corruption Offenses" (authored by Yurchyshyn V.D, Hablei N.H, Kuchera A.V, 2016), "Crimes gainst a person: criminal-legal characteristics" (authored by Kuchera A.V, Hablei N.H 2021), "Criminal Law. General Part" (authored by Hablei N.H, Kuchera A.V, Yurchyshyn V.D, 2018), "Criminology" (authored by Yurchyshyn V.D, Mendyk L.V, Smushak O.M , 2022).
All disciplines assigned to the department are provided with teaching and methodical materials. In the context of this work, the team of the department has developed more than 25 educational and methodological complexes for full-time and part-time students. Through the efforts of the members of the department, 18 educational and methodological manuals have been published.
