The department’s staff is as follows: head of department, Candidate of Science, Associate Professor Serhiy L. The Department of Legal Information and Computer Technologies deals with the matters of implementation of modern information technologies in daily activity of lawyers and law students, educational process and data base protection.

The teachers of the department published the study guide “Fundamentals of Computer Science” (editorship of Associate Professor S.L. Yemelyanov), summary of lectures on information safety, textbook “Information Technologies” (S.L. Yemelyanov and V.F. Yakutko) for students of law and economy higher educational institutions.

In order to provide for the work of the Legal Information Technologies Department the laboratory of information technologies (IT) was opened in September 1, 2006 as its structural unit. The necessity for the creation of the said unit was caused by the growing rates of the modern information technologies application to the educational process at the Academy.

The laboratory staff created regular on-line server accessible via the internet: http://do.onua.edu.ua. Every student who registers on-line is given the possibility to study the lecture materials and prepare for the practical lessons or seminars. Current and final control tests are offered there to check the progress of the students.

The students of Mykolaiv ONLA Educational Centre regularly use the possibilities of the educational resource, while ONLA other educational centres have already expressed their readiness to join.

The IT laboratory is also in charge of information support and constant updating of the official Academy web site. Every important event in the life of our educational institution is reflected in the news line of ONLA web site illustrated by colourful photos accessible at any part of the world via: http://www.onua.edu.ua. The laboratory is responsible for the work and information support of the information indicator panel in the hall of educational building in Pionerska Street, 2.

In the first half-year of its work the IT laboratory along with the student self-government council and students scientific society created students web-site which reflects not only the activities of students’ self-government and students scientific society but also provides all the students of the Academy with ample opportunity of free communication in the forum, exchange of files and photos, as well as publication of their articles for approbation and discussion. In 2007 the IT laboratory took an active part in the work of the admissions office installing hardware complex “Almamater” as well as developing software for automation of the office’s work. The introduction of this complex allowed performing the routine paper work, which had been previously done by technical secretaries and the chief secretary, through the computer system.
