The department of international law and international relations
Head of the Department, Candidate of Law, Professor, Marco Y. CHERKES
The department was founded simultaneously with the foundation of Odessa State Academy of Law, its foundation being completed by January 1, 1998. The department has become the centre of the development of international law in the region. The head of the department is Candidate of Law, Professor M.Y. Cherkes.
The Department of International Law and International Legal Relations is one of the leading departments, providing the fundamental disciplines, such as International Law, International Private Law, Diplomatic and Consular Law, Diplomatic Protocol, International Criminal Law, and Theory and History of International Relations. The above-mentioned subjects help the students to trace the international law evolution as well as perfect their legal skills.
The staff, which includes five candidates of science, associate professors, are engaged in research and methodological work of the Academy. Six candidate dissertations and one doctoral thesis (N.A. Zelinska) were defended in the recent years; 7 textbooks on international law and a substantial number of methodological instructions were published.
Since the year of 2000, the staff of the department has researched into the theme “International Legal Defence of the Interests of Ukraine”. In 2002 the monograph “Legal Regulation of the Internet Activity” by M.Y.Cherkes was published, in 2006 – “International Crimes and International Criminality” by N.A. Zelinska.

Korotky; Candidate of Law, Associate Professor Natalya O. Yakubovska; senior teacher Anatoliy Y. Yevgenin; lecturers: Malvina V. Grushko, Oleksandr M. Troyanovsky, Oleksandr V. Lepetyuk, Svitlana V. Kurchenko; senior laboratory assistant Oksana Byelogubova, and laboratory assistant Kateryna Manuilova.
