The Center for Extramural and Distance Learning of the National University "Odesa Law Academy" gives an opportunity to get higher education on the job, as well as a second higher education on the basis of an existing degree.
In the course of instruction, the students of the Center receive educational material regarding all academic disciplines, they perform individual tasks, learn to synthesize, generalize and implement knowledge in legal and socio-economic areas. The system of co-ordinated lectures precedes the stage of student's independent work, however consultations and practical exercises complete this work before exams. Each academic year consists of examination periods. Students who are employed are entitled to additional paid leave for these periods.
The Center for Extramural and Distance Learning provides bachelor and master programs in the following fields: Law (Criminal Justice; Judicial and administrative activities; Civil and Economic Justice), International Law, Law enforcement, Management.
The training is carried out according to the curricula of the full-time study, adjusted with a glance at the peculiarities and specifics of the extramural instruction. Thus, students receive a full range of knowledge in different areas of law.
The organization of the educational process at the Distance Learning Center has a number of features. Each course has two sessions, the duration of each session for the 1st and 2nd years of study is 15 days, and for others - 20 days. Such approach optimizes the study load and facilitates the students independent work through scientific and methodological support.
The departments of the University and the dean's office of the Center constantly improve the forms of classwork applying special approaches to lecture courses and implementing advanced technologies to enhance of the quality of knowledge.
With a glance at the specifics of distance learning, where the student's independent work plays an important role in the educational process, the dean's office takes measures to organize individual advisory work of students, update test tasks and instructions for written efforts, and form educational and methodological complexes of disciplines on electronic media.
The Center for Extramural and Distance Learning is working to introduce distance learning technologies. In particular, an electronic database of training courses in the virtual educational environment "Moodle" has been created, which concentrates information and methodological support of the educational process, which is constantly updated to become more informative.
The dynamics of the modern world sets high requirements for a successful person and a real professional - to be open to changes and ready to constantly improve, and sometimes to retrain. That is why today more and more people prioritize getting a second higher education at the European level. This is a global trend, an urgent requirement of the 21st century.
