In the framework of the research work, a considerable number of monographs, scientific articles, textbooks, abstracts of scientific reports have been published by Olexandr Bignyak. He participates in many conferences, seminars, round tables, including international ones. He takes part in professional development activities, including the 'Successful Appeal to the European Court of Human Rights: From Theory to Practice', held in Strasbourg on 9-13 April, 2018.

Olexandr Bignyak got an appreciation letter from the Chairman of Odessa region Bar Association for conscientious work and significant contribution to the development of legal education and science.

The Department of International and European Law is a part of the Faculty of International Legal Relations and provides training for full-time and part-time students at all faculties and institutes of the National University “Odessa Law Academy”.

The main purpose of the work of the department is the formation of students' knowledge in the field of International Law, Private International Law and International Relations, as well as training of highly qualified academic and pedagogical staff, and  participation in the research work of the university as well.

The department provides teaching of the following disciplines: International law; Comparative Law; International Protection of Human Rights; International Relations and World Politics; International Media Law; Legal regulation of health care; International Humanitarian Law; Transitive Justice; Council of Europe law; International Criminal Justice; Theory and Practice of International Law / EU Institutional Law; International Law Theory; The right to resolve international disputes; ECHR practice; WTO Law; International Commercial Arbitration; Legal families in Europe; European Internal Market Law; EU Constitutional and Institutional Law; Competition Law in the EU and Ukraine; EU diplomacy; EU external relations; The European idea as a factor of European integration; International and European Energy Law; International Investment Law; Legal protection of legal entities in the ECHR; International Information Law; Consumer protection rights in the EU and Ukraine; International justice; International legal mechanisms for the protection of human rights; Methodology and organization of scientific research on the theory and practice of International Law; EU Institutional Law; EU Internal Market Law; Monitoring and Fact Finding in International Law / Protecting Human Rights in Crises; International Private Law; International Criminal Law; International Civil Procedure; Introduction to History of International Law; Public International Law (Foundations of Theory); History of Diplomacy; EU Law; Issues of International Law; Basics of international human rights standards.

The Department of International and European Law also participates in the implementation of the initiative of the President of NU "OLA", Academician Sergey Kivalov, and provides academic disciplines in English.

In particular: Consumer Protection Law in the EU and Ukraine; International Commercial Arbitration; EU Private law; International contracts; EU Constitutional and Institutional Law; European Internal Market Law; International and European Energy Law; ECHR practice; EU Economic Criminal Law; International Trade Law and EU Trade Law; EU diplomacy; EU external relations; The European idea as a factor of European integration; Legal families in Europe; International Business Law.

The department studies touching issues of the theory of International Law, International Humanitarian Law, formation and development of Iinternational Criminal, Maritime, Environmental and Aviation Law, implementation of European standards in the field of human rights along with legal basis of counteraction to terrorism.

The pool of disciplines is formed with a glance at the specifics of each faculty (institute) of the National University "Odessa Law Academy".
