The Department of Criminal Procedure provides full-time and part-time training for students of all specialties in the field of  Criminal Procedure. Organizationally, the department is a part of the Faculty of Prosecution and Investigation (Criminal Justice) and has 21 teachers, including 2 LlDs and 19 PhDs in Law.

The professors of the department carry out scientific research in the field of Criminal Procedure, take active part in legal drafting and provide scientific conclusions regarding proper application of Criminal Procedure. The personnel of the chair is constantly involved in organizing and conducting lectures for the officials of judicial and law enforcement agencies.

The Department of Criminal Procedure provides the following disciplines: Criminal Procedure; Theory of evidence within criminal proceedings; Drafting of procedural documents within criminal proceedings; Court decisions within criminal proceedings; International legal assistance within criminal proceedings; Conduction of investigative (search) actions; Pre-trial investigation; Trial proceedings; Criminal procedure acts; Advocate within judicial control in pre-trial investigation; International co-operation within criminal proceedings; Implementation of ECHR legal practice within criminal proceedings; Measures of criminal proceedings; Legal assistance within criminal proceedings (for students of the Faculty of Advocacy); Defense and representation within criminal proceedings; Actual problems of justice within criminal proceedings.

Representatives of the department implement the initiative of the President of the National University “Odessa Law Academy” giving lectures and practicals on legal disciplines in English. In particular, teachers A.A. Torbas and A.S. Stepanenko provide lectures and seminars on the subject of Criminal Proceedings.

Active scientific and pedagogical efforts of the department have been repeatedly noted at local and state levels. Professor Yu. Alenin was awarded the title Honoured Lawyer of Ukraine. Associate Professors I. Glovyuk, N. Stoyanov and T. Lukashkina were awarded as well.
