A working meeting with the Head of the EU Advisory Mission (EUAM) Ukraine Field Office Odesa, Anders Johansen, took place at the National University «Odesa Law Academy».

The meeting was attended by the President of the University, Sergiy Kivalov, the Rector, Oleg Todoshchak, the Head of the International Relations Office, Daria Minchenko, as well as the Authorised Person for Anti-Corruption, Ihor Pit.

The purpose of the visit was to discuss prospects for cooperation in the field of training specialists for the security and law enforcement sector, as well as to integrate international expertise into the educational process.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on current challenges in reforming Ukraine’s law enforcement system and the role of higher education institutions in training modern legal professionals capable of working effectively in the context of European integration. Particular attention was paid to the need to combine theoretical training with practical skills, especially in the areas of criminal investigation, human rights protection, and the implementation of European standards in law enforcement activities.

Within the framework of the meeting, agreements were reached on organising joint events, including roundtables and lectures with the participation of EUAM experts, focusing on law enforcement reform, European practices in criminal investigations, as well as psychological support and the reintegration of veterans into civilian life.

The Head of the EUAM regional office, Anders Johansen, noted the high level of student training and emphasised the importance of fostering not only professional competences but also social values:
«You are carrying out a highly important mission by combining quality education with the development of social responsibility and values among students».

The meeting marked an important step towards strengthening the University’s international cooperation and integrating European approaches into the training of future professionals.
