The Department of Private Law is a part of the Faculty of Civil and Economic Justice and provides full-time and part-time training at most faculties of the National University "Odesa Law Academy".
The department teaches the following courses: Civil Law; Civil and Family Law; Civil Legal Protection of Individual Non-property Rights; Civil Legal Protection of Property Rights; Family Law; Basics of Roman Private Law; Inheritance Law; Modern Issues of Civics and Research Methodology; Basics of Emotional Intelligence; Conflict Management; Modern Issues of Civil Law and Civil Procedural Law; E-Commerce; Civil Rights Protection; Civil Law Regulation of Contracts in Business Activity; Legal Principles of IT Business; Civil Law: Theory and Practice; Civil law in Modern Conditions; Inheritance Law of Ukraine and World Countries; Issues of Contract Law; Current Issues of Ukrainian Civil Legislation Adaptation to EU Law; Current Issues of the Ukrainian Civil Legislation Updating; Linguistic Peculiarities of Drawing up Civil Law Contracts.
The department researches are working at the scientific theme: "Problems of implementation and protection of civil rights and interests from the perspective of the anthropological approach in the digital era" (for the period 2021-2025).
Odesa School of Civil Studies, Odesa School of Roman Law, National School of Roman Law Reception, Scientific School for the Study of Current Civil Law Issues, Center for the Study of Ukrainian and Polish Law, School of Family Law named after Professor Y. Chervony, and Odesa School of IT Law have been established thanks to the efforts and with the participation of the department headed by Professor E. Kharitonov. Since 2020, the staff of the Department of Civil Law has been studying the issues of protecting the rights of an individual amid the COVID-2019 pandemic and under martial law.
