The Department of Military and Physical Training encompasses two areas of study.
The basic general military training program covers a wide range of disciplines that provide both military and practical skills. Students learn the fundamentals of tactics and strategy, how to navigate in the field, build defensive positions, and work effectively as a team. Firearms training allows them to master the use of various types of weapons. Additionally, the course includes survival skills in field conditions and actions in emergency situations. A significant focus is placed on training in radiation, chemical, and biological protection. Students learn how to use protective equipment and how to behave during chemical or radiation hazards. These skills not only prepare young people for military service but also provide practical abilities that can be useful in civilian life, such as during crises.
The academic discipline of Physical Education is a crucial component of the holistic development of an individual and is offered at the National University ‘Odesa Law Academy’ as part of the humanities section of the curriculum. Physical education focuses on understanding general principles for maintaining and strengthening the health of higher education students, improving physical fitness, using free time effectively, increasing civic and professional activity, and forming a harmoniously developed personality of a young specialist. The Department of Physical Education implements state policies on physical education and sports in higher education institutions in accordance with the Law of Ukraine ‘On Higher Education’, where one of the main objectives is promoting a personally healthy lifestyle among students.
Physical culture, educational, and sports activities at the university are aimed at supporting students’ health and fostering a positive attitude toward an active, healthy lifestyle. The organization of training and educational processes, using modern technologies, is based on the university’s sports facilities, which were constructed on campus according to custom designs that meet European and international sports standards. This unique sports complex in Ukraine quickly became popular among students, faculty, and staff, while also providing city residents with opportunities for physical exercise and various sports.
Competitions are held at the sports complex among faculties and university divisions, offering everyone the chance to actively and fully enjoy recreation while taking care of their health. Throughout the university’s development, there has been an intensive process of reconstruction, renewal, and expansion of its material and technical base. Today, it is a multifunctional, extensive complex of modern facilities covering more than 79,000 square meters, of which 13,750 square meters are allocated for the sports and wellness complex.
