On March 12, a presentation of ELSA Odesa for university students took place in the Meeting Hall of the Academic Council of the National University “Odesa Law Academy”.
Specifically for this event, the ELSA Odesa team visited the students of NU “OLA” to talk about the activities of ELSA — the largest international network of law students, which has been uniting young lawyers in 43 European countries for more than 40 years.
National University “Odesa Law Academy” has joined the international project “Training Legal Professionals in EU Law for Ukraine’s EU Integration”, which has received funding from the Swedish Institute (Svenska institutet).
The project is coordinated by Örebro University (Sweden) in cooperation with Ukrainian partner institutions, including National University “Odesa Law Academy”, the National School of Judges of Ukraine, the Notary Chamber of Ukraine, the Prosecutor’s Training Centre of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian National Bar Association.
On the initiative of the President of the National University “Odesa Law Academy”, Sergiy Kivalov, students of the Faculty of Civil and Commercial Justice took part in an international academic mobility programme across Europe – a journey that combined learning, practical experience, and acquaintance with the cultural heritage of leading European countries.
The trip was organised with the support of the French non-governmental organisation “Ukraine in Europe” and the International Relations Office of the National University “Odesa Law Academy”.
During the programme, the students were accompanied by Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages, Svitlana Yeromenko.
At the initiative of University President Sergiy Kivalov, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between NU OLA and the UK-based international defense company LAVR UK LIMITED. The memorandum was signed by Professor Oleg Todoshchak, rector of the NU OLA, and Russell Colson, director of LAVR UK LIMITED. The two parties agreed to collaborate on the project "Proposal for Institutional Review and Modernization of the ISPS Code in Light of Emerging Maritime Threats."
A new issue of the leading Ukrainian legal journal "Pravo Ukrainy" (Law of Ukraine) No. 11 for 2024 has been published, dedicated to the current topic of the development of the doctrine of criminal law of Ukraine on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of the distinguished Ukrainian scholar, Professor Volodymyr Stashys.
The research examines contemporary problems of criminal law doctrine in the context of Professor V. V. Stashys's scholarly legacy. Among the contributors are professors Yevhen Streltsov, Viacheslav Tuliakov, Nataliia Myroshnychenko, associate professors Liliia Timofieieva, Liudmyla Abakina-Piliavska, and other authoritative experts.
The Rector of the National University “Odesa Law Academy”, Professor Oleg Todoshchak, and the First Vice-Rector for Academic Activity and Academic Management of the Nicolae Testemițanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Dr. Habil. Olga Cernetchi, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
During the meeting, the leadership of both universities discussed key directions of higher education reform, institutional development strategies, opportunities for expanding cooperation, and ways to strengthen inter-university partnership.
The Memorandum provides for the enhancement of mutually beneficial relations, the exchange of scientific and educational best practices, and the promotion of collaboration between faculty members, experts, and students of both institutions. The parties also agreed to jointly use research results, publish academic outputs, and share educational and scientific experience.
