CURRENT PROGRAMMES
AND GRANTS

Since 2000, the University of Salzburg has been organizing an annual summer school in comparative private law. Over the past 25 years, thousands of students have been taught the principles of comparative law based on a wide variety of legal systems. The lecturers come from almost all EU countries, as well as Argentina, Brazil, Puerto Rico, the United States, Canada, South Africa, China, Japan, Turkey, Ukraine, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland. Therefore, classes are taught exclusively by experts from the respective countries in German, French or English.

This year's summer school will take place from 30 June to 12 July 2025.

The school attaches great importance to comparative law classes. During roundtable discussions, groups of experts introduce various topical legal issues. In addition, teachers and students discuss practical solutions in various areas of law during special workshops. The schedule of this year's summer school is available here: https://www.plus.ac.at/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/aktueller-overview_Homepage_TN_SS2025_Stand11.2.2025.pdf

The program is aimed at recent graduates and law students. At a minimum, participants should have already completed basic courses in private law. As seminars, roundtables and most lectures are conducted in an interactive manner, allowing participants to discuss various topics with lecturers, a good level of English is required (at least B2 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages). Knowledge of an additional language (French, German, Spanish or Italian) is an advantage. Participation is possible offline and online. The cost is 600 and 400 euros, respectively. The price does not include accommodation and travel.

The application deadline is 30 April 2025. The application form, curriculum and additional information about the school and the cost of participation can be found here: https://www.plus.ac.at/privatrecht/studium/summer-school-european-private-law/
