On April 21, the final meeting of representatives of the consortium of universities participating in the implementation of the TEMPUS IV project "Development of Master's Program in European and International Law in East Europe - InterEULawEast" was held at the University of Maribor (Slovenia). The main tasks of the final meeting were to assess results of each partner of the project, as well as to discuss the prospects for the development of master's program in European and international law. National University "Odessa Law Academy" was represented by Vice-President, Vice-Rector of International Relations, Judge ad hoc of the European Court of Human Rights V. Tulyakov and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of International Legal Relations of the University M. Katsyn.
For 4 years, experts from universities of European Union member states and representatives of Odessa School of Law were developing teaching and methodological providing for master's program. The master's program created within the framework of the project is innovative and prospective for Ukraine, as it focuses on studying legal regulation and practices of Common Market of European Union, which is especially important in the context of implementation of EU Association Agreement and Ukraine.
The participants of the meeting highly appreciated innovative master's program in international and European law in English, which since 2016 has been successfully realized in National University “Odessa Law Academy”. They also noticed the important role of the University as the national coordinator of the project in Ukraine as a whole.
Within the framework of the meeting, the importance of further cooperation between universities in the field of joint training of lawyers was emphasized, especially in the format of distance learning, the development of a new distance learning platform on European law in English, academic exchanges. A decision to continue work on creation of master's program with a double diploma was taken.
In his speech, Professor Vyacheslav Tulyakov thanked European colleagues on behalf of the President of National University “Odessa Law Academy” Academician Sergey Kivalov for their contribution to the reform of high legal education in Ukraine on the basis of European standards. Professor Vyacheslav Tulyakov noticed that on the initiative of the President of University, Academician Sergey Kivalov the preparation of bachelor students in foreign languages has been conducted at our university for more than 10 years, and that creation of master's program in English has become a logical next step.
On behalf of President of University Sergey Kivalov honorable insignia of National University “Odessa Law Academy” were presented to the project coordinators of the project – Professor Hana Horak (University of Zagreb, Croatia) and elected judge of Constitutional Court of Slovenia, Professor Raiko Knezu (University of Maribor, Slovenia).
