Thanks to the memorandum of cooperation and joint efforts of the National Research Foundation of Ukraine (NRFU) and the Dutch Research Council (NWO), scientists in Ukraine will have the opportunity to collaborate with scientists from the Kingdom of the Netherlands and thus continue their research career in difficult conditions by participating in the competition "Call for additional NWO grant opportunities for Ukrainian scientists: NWO-NRFU Partnership Initiative" in 2023.
The aim of the competition "Competitive selection for additional NWO grant opportunities for Ukrainian scientists: NWO-NRFU Partnership Initiative" is to stimulate the online participation of qualified researchers from Ukraine in ongoing NWO projects and to expand their professional network in the Dutch research community.
The grant can be used to cover the salary costs of a Ukrainian researcher acting as a partner and related material costs. Ukrainian research institutions can receive only one grant under this competition
The competition is open to Ukrainian scientists who:
- reside in Ukraine
- have an academic degree (obtained or recognised in Ukraine)
- work as an associate professor or (chief/leading/senior) researcher in one of the following types of Ukrainian state-owned institutions
- higher education institution
- research institution;
- work in a Ukrainian higher education institution/research institution of state ownership, which is registered and operates in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine;
- have official employment (main place of work) at a Ukrainian higher education institution or research institution;
- is a co-author of the application for participation in this competition;
- are not employed in a research institution subject to international and national sanctions laws and regulations (see the EU sanctions map www.sanctionsmap.eu).
Applications can be submitted at any time starting from 11 September 2023. The deadline for applications is 14:00 CET on 08 April 2024. Applications must be received by NWO at least 2 months before the planned start of the Ukrainian partner's participation in the current NWO research project.
