If you are a driven undergraduate or Master’s student with a passion for research and academic excellence, the President's PhD Scholarships provide an unparalleled platform to advance your career. Successful applicants will receive full funding, including tuition fees, a stipend of £25,224 per year (2024/25 rate) to support living expenses, and an annual consumables fund of £2,000 for the first three years.
In addition to financial support, recipients will have access to bespoke opportunities and events, alongside the wider Graduate School’s professional skills programs. This elite scholarship also allows students to work under the guidance of an exceptional supervisor and collaborate with other top-tier scholars through cohort-building activities.
Eligibility Criteria: This highly competitive scholarship is open to both full-time and part-time students worldwide, with no restrictions on nationality. However, only new PhD applicants are eligible. Applicants must meet the following academic criteria:
- Achieve, or be expected to achieve, a first-class undergraduate degree or equivalent.
- Alternatively, students with a distinction in a standalone Master’s degree may also apply.
Imperial College values diversity and welcomes candidates from all backgrounds. Through its Alternate Pathways initiative, the College encourages applications from those with non-traditional academic and career paths who show exceptional research potential.
How to Apply: Applicants must secure a research supervisor at Imperial College London prior to applying. While there is no separate scholarship form, candidates must apply for admission through the online application system. In their personal statement, applicants should outline their motivation for applying and include a research proposal.
Application Deadlines: Applications will be reviewed in three rounds throughout the academic year:
- Apply by November 4, 2024, for notification by January 2025.
- Apply by January 9, 2025, for notification by March 2025.
- Apply by March 10, 2025, for notification by May 2025.
The scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence and research potential, with final selections made by a College Selection Panel. All candidates not selected for the scholarship will be automatically considered for a standard PhD place at Imperial.
