The UN Global Program for the Implementation of the Doha Declaration, “Towards a Culture of Rule of Law,” includes four specific and interlinked components: strengthening the integrity and integrity of the judiciary and preventing corruption in the justice system;

promoting the rehabilitation and social integration of prisoners; youth crime prevention through sports; “Justice education” to develop training materials and programs on topics related to criminal justice and crime prevention.

As part of its implementation, the next milestone will be the XIV UN Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice.

The Fourteenth United Nations Congress on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice will be held from April 20 to 27, 2020 in Kyoto (Japan). The theme of the Congress is “Strengthening Crime Prevention, Criminal Justice and the Rule of Law: Toward the Implementation of the UN Agenda 2030”.

At the Congress, delegations of UN member countries will consider effective measures to address various issues related to crime prevention, in particular: a) crime prevention on a factual basis: statistics, indicators and assessment in support of successful practice; (b) Reducing recidivism: identifying risk factors and developing solutions; (c) The education and mobilization of youth as a key factor in the resilience of society to crime; (d) Current crime trends, recent changes and new solutions.

In addition to the representation of states at the highest level, members of the academic community participate in the activities of the Congress. The Secretariat of the Congress, as an independent expert of the United Nations within the framework of the Fourteenth UN Congress, invited the Vice-Rector for International Relations of the National University of Odessa Law Academy, Doctor of Law, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine Tuljakov Vyacheslav Alekseevich. This is another recognition of the merits of the Odessa School of Law in the development of modern science.
