On 12th and 14th March 2024, Natasha Costello, an English lawyer and law lecturer with over 20 years of experience in teaching law and legal skills in English, held lectures on the English Legal System for all students, PhD students, and academic staff of the National University “Odesa Law Academy.” These lectures were held at the invitation of Daria Minchenko, the Head of the International Relations Office.
In the past, Natasha Costello worked as a professional lawyer in commercial law firms in England, specializing in commercial real estate law. She was also a senior lecturer in law at Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.
During the lectures, students learned about the functioning of several legal systems in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the types of legal professions, and the requirements for obtaining solicitor and barrister qualifications. They also learned about the judicial system and the status of judges in England, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.
Natasha Costello shared useful resources for further study of the English legal system and legal English, as well as information resources for searching for court decisions, legislation, European, and US law.
