The Times Higher Education evaluated 2152 universities from 125 countries/regions to compile the overall impact rankings for 2024. The ranking includes 1963 universities, including 42 from Ukraine. The ranking takes into account carefully calibrated indicators and compares universities across four broad areas: research, governance, outreach, and teaching. In the overall list, the National University "Odesa Law Academy" entered the TOP 25 Ukrainian universities, and its score in the overall ranking increased to 43.4 points.
The Times Higher Education University Impact Ranking is the only global ranking that assesses the global success of universities in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals were developed in 2015 to address the world's biggest challenges by 2030.
The goals focus on a number of issues, including improving gender equality, ending poverty, providing better healthcare and quality education for all, and promoting economic growth.
The impact rankings are particularly useful in helping students find a university that advocates for the ideas they are interested in. These rankings move away from recognising universities based on research and published articles, and instead shine a light on those that are implementing real ways to make a difference for their students.
