The National University ‘Odesa Law Academy is proud to announce that Doctor of Law, Professor Iryna Smaznova, Head of the Department of Philosophy, has been selected as a Robert J. James Fellow for the academic year 2023-2024 as part of a group of fifty fellows from the Harvard Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study (USA). During this period, Iryna Smaznova worked on a monograph entitled Violence and Tolerance: Philosophical and Legal Perspectives. Her research is aimed at exploring the complex relationship between violence and tolerance, which has proven to be much more multifaceted than previously thought. Professor Smaznova researches the philosophy of media practices and the philosophical and legal aspects of violence and tolerance and is the author of more than 50 publications in this field.

In addition to her research efforts, Professor Smaznova served as a supervisor for the undergraduate students, gave presentations and actively participated in discussions during the fellowship meetings, providing valuable feedback on their projects.
