In accordance with the current inter-institutional agreement within the framework of the Erasmus + programme between the National University ‘Odesa Law Academy’ and the University of Seville (Spain), in order to gain international experience in the implementation of scientific activities, improve the level of theoretical and practical training and increase the level of foreign language proficiency, Margarita Zhakun, a postgraduate student of the Department of International and European Law of the National University ‘OLA’, took part in the international academic mobility programme in the form of a scientific internship at the Faculty of Law of the University of Seville (Spain).

Margarita conducted her research on the topic ‘Theoretical, legal and practical analysis of military diplomacy: Ukraine-EU relations’ in cooperation and under the scientific supervision of César Villegas Delgado, Professor of the Department of Public International Law and International Relations, Faculty of Law, University of Seville. The workload of the postgraduate student, as part of the research internship, was 20 hours per week.

During the academic mobility programme, Margarita Zhakun systematically participated in scientific conferences, discourses, seminars and meetings. She attended training courses, in particular, she successfully completed the 20-hour course ‘The European Union Legal System and its Impact on Domestic Legislation’ organised by the Centre for European Documentation of the University of Seville.

Participation in scientific events allowed her not only to present her own research to the international scientific community, but also to exchange experience with leading experts in the field of international law. Upon completion of the international mobility programme, Margarita received a letter of recommendation from the supervisor of the host university in addition to a certificate of attendance.

International academic mobility programmes for postgraduate students contribute not only to gaining international experience in implementing scientific activities, but also to improving the level of foreign language skills. During her internship, Margarita successfully completed two Spanish language courses: The Basic Spanish Course (Curso de español) at the University's Language Centre (4.5 ECTS credits) and the Certification Course ‘Spanish for Immediate Needs’ (Curso de español para necesidades inmediatas) organised by the National University of Distance Education (Spain) (1 ECTS credit) and passed the relevant exams.

The National University ‘Odesa Law Academy’ demonstrates a high level of international academic cooperation by promoting international exchange of students and staff, as it is not only an opportunity for professional growth, but also a unique chance to expand one's own worldview by immersing oneself in a new linguistic, cultural and social environment.
