Doctor of Law, Professor at the National University "Odesa Law Academy", ad hoc Judge of the European Court of Human Rights, and Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Viacheslav Tuliakov, has received the prestigious invitation to serve as an author and editor for a special issue of International Policy Review dedicated to Ukraine. This ambitious academic project is being implemented by IE University in collaboration with such renowned American institutions as George Washington University, Georgetown University, and American University.
This is not merely recognition of an individual scholar’s professional accomplishments — it is yet another affirmation that the Odesa School of Law is no longer a “dark horse” but a stable and confident player in the international academic arena.
What makes this initiative particularly valuable is that it creates space for students from various countries — including Ukraine — to engage in the development of innovative policy solutions for the post-war reconstruction of our country. The Ukraine Working Group unites a young intellectual elite to create, write, and analyze strategies capable of shaping a vision for Ukraine’s long-term stability and prosperity. This is not just about learning — it is an entry into academic adulthood through the wide-open doors of global policy discourse.
The National University "Odesa Law Academy" plays a key role in strengthening international academic ties, developing analytical platforms, and shaping a new generation of researchers and experts in public policy. And who said that only scholars from Oxford or Harvard shape the global agenda? Odesa is speaking up too — with well-argued positions, professional confidence, and a touch of southern charm.
In the face of today’s global challenges, such international academic collaboration gains even greater importance: It opens new horizons for Ukrainian scholars and students, providing access to cutting-edge knowledge, methodologies, and resources. Joint projects with the world’s leading universities enhance the visibility of Ukrainian legal schools on the global stage. Ukrainian participation in international initiatives ensures that our national experience and perspectives are reflected in the formulation of global policy frameworks.
Students gain invaluable experience in intercultural communication that tempers them more effectively than any traditional legal clinic. And ultimately — these partnerships lay the foundation for future institutional cooperation, student and faculty exchanges, joint educational programs, and collaborative research initiatives.
The participation of representatives from the Odesa Law Academy in such prestigious international projects is not merely a sign of prestige — it is clear evidence that Ukrainian legal science is not only staying informed, but is actively positioned at the heart of global intellectual processes. And let’s admit — it’s good to know that the “eternal student city” of Odesa now resonates in geopolitics with its signature elegance and academic flair.
