The leadership and staff of the University sincerely congratulate Viacheslav Oleksiiovych Tuliakov, Professor at the Department of Criminal Law of the National University “Odesa Law Academy,” ad hoc Judge of the European Court of Human Rights, Doctor of Law, Professor, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Honored Scientist and Engineer of Ukraine, on being awarded the Mykola Panov Prize for his cycle of scientific works “Advancing to European Standards in Criminal Law” (link).

The Mykola Panov Prize was established on the initiative of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine, Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University, the journal Law of Ukraine, and the NGO “Unbroken Ukraine.” It is awarded to authors of new and original scientific works exclusively in the field of criminal law, published within the past three years, and is one of the most prestigious awards in the field of legal science.

Viacheslav Oleksiiovych’s scientific cycle “Advancing to European Standards in Criminal Law” is of particular importance for the contemporary development of criminal law doctrine. In his works, the author comprehensively explores the issues of integrating Ukrainian criminal law into the European legal space, outlines modern trends in the humanization of criminal liability, and defines ways to adapt the national criminal justice system to the standards of the rule of law, protection of human rights, and fair trial.

This recognition confirms the significant contribution of one of the founders of the Odesa School of Criminal Law, Viacheslav Tuliakov, to the development of Ukrainian criminal law science and practice, as well as his commitment to shaping the European face of the Ukrainian legal system.
