In November 2025, the National University “Odesa Law Academy” concluded a Cooperation Agreement in the field of scientific activity with the National Centre for Forensic Expertise under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova. The negotiations and preparation of this agreement had been ongoing in recent years.
The National Centre for Forensic Expertise under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova is a state forensic institution within the justice system of the Republic of Moldova. It is a leading organisation accredited in accordance with international standards and conducts a wide range of forensic examinations for law enforcement agencies, courts, and other stakeholders in Moldova. The Centre covers almost all traditional fields, including criminalistic, economic, accounting, technical, construction, automotive, and certain types of medical forensic examinations. It brings together highly qualified forensic experts who regularly undergo international certification and professional development, ensuring that their expertise, methodologies, and practices meet contemporary scientific requirements.
The Agreement, signed by the President of the National University “Odesa Law Academy”, Academician Sergiy Vasyliovych Kivalov, and the Director of the National Centre for Forensic Expertise under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova, Olga Semenivna Kataraga, provides for cooperation in the following areas:
- implementation of joint scientific projects, exchange of their results, and scientific missions of scholars and specialists involved in these projects;
- organisation of joint forums, scientific conferences, seminars and round tables, exhibitions, and training courses on new methods and methodologies of forensic activity;
- exchange of information on new monographs, collections of scientific works, educational, methodological, and reference publications;
- organisation of internships for experts, researchers, and academic staff;
- support in the training of highly qualified scientific personnel;
- publication of joint scientific and scientific-methodological works in academic journals.
Cooperation with the National Centre for Forensic Expertise under the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova represents a synergy between academic science and practical forensic expertise and will contribute to the harmonisation of legal standards.
