The Separate Unit "Joint Higher Vocational and Technical School of the Service Sector of the National University "Odesa Law Academy" is a leading institution of vocational and technical education in the South of Ukraine, which has a glorious history, the modern part of which is connected precisely with the National University "Odesa Law Academy ".

The school has gone a long way in its development. It was created in 1946 as an educational complex for the training of specialists in domestic service of the population, in particular disabled people of the Second World War. In 1972, it was reorganized into the Vocational and Technical School of the Department of Household Services, and in 1985 it was transformed into the Odesa Vocational and Technical School No. 35. In 2003, the school received the maximum (III) attestation level and was renamed the Higher Vocational and Technical School of the Service Sphere. In 2009, the school entered the structure of the National University "Odesa Law Academy", which gave new impetus for dynamic development. Since 2016, after merging with the Separate structural unit "School No. 2 of the National University "Odesa Law Academy", the educational institution was transformed into the Separate unit "Joint Higher Vocational and Technical School of the Service Sector of the National University "Odesa Law Academy".

According to the decision of the Academic Council of the University dated September 7, 2022, in order to properly organize the educational process and optimize work, the Separate structural unit "School No. 3 of the National University "Odesa Law Academy", which has gone through an equally glorious path of formation, merged with "Joint Higher Vocational and Technical School of the Service Sector of the National University "Odesa Law Academy".

Vocational School No. 3 was established on May 20, 1944 as a base for the Black Sea Shipping and Ship Repair Plant No. 1. Sailors, motormen, turners and electricians who left this school worked on almost every ship. Many graduates continued their studies in institutions of higher education and became captains, mechanics and even managers of various maritime enterprises. In 1962, the educational institution was renamed Vocational and Technical School No. 14. According to the order of the Ministry of Education No. 140 of June 17, 1997, Higher Vocational School No. 17 was established on the basis of Vocational Training School No. 14 and Vocational Training School No. 17. In 1999, by order of the Ministry of Education of Ukraine No. 391 of November 17, 1999, Higher

Professional School No. 17 was reorganized into School No. 3 of the Odesa National Law Academy. In 2010, according to the order of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine No. 1079 dated November 11, 2010, the school was named Separate structural unit "School No. 3 of the National University "Odesa Law Academy".

Over the years of its existence, the school has trained specialists in various professions, but time has put everything in its place, and today the Separate Unit "Joint Higher Vocational and Technical School of the Service Sector of the National University "Odesa Law Academy" works in the areas most in demand on the labor market: "Motorist (machinist), turner", "Motorist (machinist), sailor", "Tailor", "Hairdresser (hairstylist)", "Administrator", "Clerk", "Assistant clerk". In addition, the school carries out training at the educational and professional level of a professional junior bachelor in the specialty "Technologies of light industry" according to the educational program of training fashion designers. It also has licenses for the training of qualified workers in the following professions: "Tailor’s cutter", "Radio mechanic for maintenance and repair of radio and television equipment" and "Fire alarm electrician".

Today, having joined, the Separate Unit "Joint Higher Vocational and Technical School of the Service Sector of the National University "Odesa Law Academy" carries out training not only on the basis of full general secondary education (11 grades of education), but also on the basis of basic general secondary education (9 grades of education) with the provision of parallel acquisition of both applied skills in the chosen profession and school education.

In 2021, the school passed certification for the professions "Hairdresser (hairdresser-modeler)" and "Tailor" and confirmed the right to graduate qualified workers until 2031 with the possibility of continuing training in these areas. An educational program specializing in "Light Industry Technologies" was also accredited, which makes it possible to continue training not only skilled workers, but also professional junior bachelors.

In 2022, the contingent of students will be almost 700 students, and the teaching staff will be almost 80 people, which makes the school one of the largest in the Odesa region.

Due to its inclusion in the structure of the National University "Odesa Law Academy", the school has a high level of material and technical support, as well as the services of education seekers:

  • four educational buildings;
  • 42 theoretical study rooms;
  • 20 production workshops;
  • a library with a reading room, the book fund of which includes more than 40,000 copies of educational, artistic and other literature;
  • modern sports hall.

Education applicants systematically participate and win prizes at regional and all-Ukrainian level professional skill competitions. The educational process is provided by highly qualified teachers and masters of industrial training, many of whom have a higher qualification category, the title of "methodologist teacher".

Great attention is paid to the development of students’ abilities and talents, to the growth of their intellectual and spiritual potential. The vocal ensemble "Globus", the drama theater "Epos", a choreography studio, and a ship modeling club operate on a permanent basis in the educational institution, in the framework of which students have repeatedly become laureates of all-Ukrainian competitions.
