On 25 June 2024, at the initiative of Daria MINCHENKO, Head of the International Relations Department, the National University of Odesa Law Academy hosted an international roundtable discussion on "Constitutional Human Rights in Transition".

In order to stimulate and promote the development of science in Ukraine, strengthen international cooperation in the field of education and science, and taking into account the need to promote the use of English as one of the languages of international communication throughout Ukraine, the event was held in English.

The special guest was Enrico ALBANESI, Professor of Constitutional Law at the Law Department of the University of Genoa (Italy). Professor Albanese's keynote speech was devoted to the conditions for derogation and restriction of rights provided by the European Convention on Human Rights during times of transition.

Partners of the National University "Odesa Law Academy" under the USAID program "Justice for All" have been collaborating with the T.M.C. Asser Institute (The Hague, Netherlands) since September 2022 to enhance the capacity of interested Ukrainian legal schools in teaching international criminal law. This collaboration involves engaging teachers and students from Ukrainian legal schools in joint activities such as workshops, guest lectures, etc., conducted in English to facilitate professional networking between Ukrainian educators and international experts in the field of international criminal law.

The National University "Odesa Law Academy" has joined the National Council of University Research Advisors (NCURA) Initiative for the South Caucasus and Ukraine.

The main goal of the NCURA South Caucasus and Ukraine Initiative is to stimulate and strengthen partnerships between academic institutions in the South Caucasus and Ukraine. The initiative is implemented by the University of Business and Technology in Tbilisi, with the support of the US Embassy and the NCURA headquarters.

On 12th and 14th March 2024, Natasha Costello, an English lawyer and law lecturer with over 20 years of experience in teaching law and legal skills in English, held lectures on the English Legal System for all students, PhD students, and academic staff of the National University “Odesa Law Academy.” These lectures were held at the invitation of Daria Minchenko, the Head of the International Relations Office.

On 15 March 2024, the National University "Odesa Law Academy" hosted a meeting with writer, journalist and political analyst Paul Hockenos (USA) with the students of the university.

Paul Hockenos is a writer, journalist and political analyst based in Berlin and New York, working in Germany and Central and Eastern Europe. His work has been published in The New York Times, Newsweek, The Nation, Foreign Policy, New Statesman, The Christian Science Monitor and The Chronicle of Higher Education.

On 22 February 2024, Professor Enrico Albanesi, Professor of the Department of Constitutional Law at the University of Genoa (Italy), researcher and co-leader of the IALS Legal Reform Project at the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (IALS), University of London, visited the National University of Odesa Law Academy.

Rector of the National University "Odesa Law Academy" Oleh Todoshchak and Head of the International Relations Office Daria Minchenko met with the professor. Council of Europe  Economic Crime and Cooperation Division (ECCD)  has signed an Expert Services Contract  with representative of Odesa School of Law  profesor Viacheslav Tuliakov.

Economic Crime and Cooperation Division (ECCD)  of the Council of Europe oversees technical cooperation initiatives in member states and neighboring jurisdictions, focusing on combating corruption, money laundering, terrorist financing, and various forms of economic and organized crime.

Yesterday IE University’s School of Politics, Economics, and Global Affairs (Spain) held a presentation of Global Tax Evasion Report prepared by the staff of the EU Tax Observatory “Fighting Global Tax Evasion: What Happened, What Could Happen Now”.

A key message of this report presented by Gabriel Zucman is that tax evasion is not a law of nature but a policy choice. As interconnected nations we can choose free-for-all policies that allow it to fester, or we can choose coordination to curb it. It is also possible to make major progress through unilateral action, should ambitious global agreements fail.

From 1 September 2018 to 31 December 2022, the National University "Odesa Law Academy" implemented the Jean Monnet Module "The EU as a Global Actor and Agent of Change" (No. 599761-EPP-1-2018-1-UA-EPPJMO-MODULE). This module aims to improve teaching and research on the European Union's foreign policy and provide students with practical skills. The National University "Odesa Law Academy" ensured the participation of teachers in this project. Among them are professors and associate professors of the Department of International and European Law: Surilova O.O., Akimenko Y.Y., Dronov V.Y., Manuilova K.V., Grushko M.V., Vladyshevska V.V., Grib G.M., Belogubova O.O., Professor of the Department of Intellectual Property and Patent Justice O.I. Kharytonova and others. The project was coordinated by Professor Bihniak O.V.

In order to implement the right to international academic mobility and improve the level of theoretical and practical training, on 9 November 2023, a foreign trip to Suceava, Romania, was held to participate in a working meeting and discuss inter-university cooperation with the Faculty of Law and Administrative Sciences of the Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava (Romania).

From 6 November to 10 November 2023, on the basis of the Academic Cooperation Agreement between the National University "Odesa Law Academy" and the State University of Moldova (Chisinau, Moldova), within the framework of the international academic mobility programme, the Head of the Department of Sociology, Professor Liliana Yarova, PhD student of the Department of International and European Law Marharyta Zhakun and students of the Faculty of Psychology, Political Science and Sociology took part in the training seminar "Peculiarities of Democratic Development: Sociological, Psychological, Political Science Aspects" held at the State University of Moldova. The training programme included 9 lectures from the lecturers of the State University of Moldova and discussions.

In the latest in a series of interviews with leading figures involved in the research and investigation of organized crime, Policing Insight’s Dr Chris Allen spoke to Dr Tetiana Melnychuk, Associate Professor at Ukraine’s National University Odesa Law Academy and visiting researcher at the Center for European and International Criminal Law Studies at the Universität Osnabrück, about the ‘blurred edges’ of organized crime, preventing criminals infiltrating government and legal agencies, and the need to prepare for the restoration of law and order after the war in Ukraine.

The IX (XXIII) Lviv Criminal Justice Forum "Ukrainian Military and Postwar Criminal Justice" was held in Lviv on October 26-27, 2027.

Between September 26 and September 29, 2023, the International Relations Department of the National University of Odesa Law Academy hosted a lecture series on "Criminal Law in Practice" by Jillian Boone, an American lawyer and lecturer from Ohio State University.

During the lectures, students were taught about the judicial systems and jurisdictions of the US states, the various stages of the criminal process (pre-trial proceedings, negotiations between the parties, trial, sentencing and serving the sentence).

On September 27, 2023, at the meeting of the Presidium of the Ukrainian Association of Criminal Law, the results of the First Competition of Scientific Papers dedicated to the memory of Professor V.
